The Nile Special Rugby Championship is reaching its climax with Heathens remaining the only unbeaten team as the regular season comes to a close. The table leaders will face their rivals, Buffaloes, in a highly anticipated match as both teams aim to solidify their positions.

Heathens have been dominant throughout the season, showcasing their strength by thrashing Impis 67-10 in their previous match at Kyadondo. The team has been steadily improving with each game, and they will be looking to maintain their unbeaten record as they face Buffaloes at the same venue.

Coach Muhammed Athiyo expressed confidence in his team’s performance, stating that they have created a well-oiled unit that plays as a cohesive team. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming derby match against Buffaloes, highlighting the significance of securing both the points and the bragging rights.

At the top of the table with 43 points, Heathens hold a four-point lead but will need to stay focused and avoid any setbacks to finish the regular season on a high note. Buffaloes, currently sixth with 27 points, will also be eager to secure a victory to maintain their position or risk dropping down the standings.

In other matches, second-placed Jinja Hippos will face a tough challenge against Mongers, who are still in contention for a top-four finish. Defending champions Pirates and Kobs are tied on 33 points in third and fourth place, with Pirates hosting relegation-threatened Impis in a must-win fixture.

On the women’s side, Black Pearls will aim for their ninth consecutive win as they face She-Wolves, while Thunderbirds will kick off the action against Panthers ahead of the Buffaloes-Heathens derby. Nile Rapids will return to action in Jinja against Avengers.

The Saturday fixtures for the men’s matches include Buffaloes vs. Heathens at Kyadondo, Mongers vs. Jinja Hippos in Entebbe, Black Pirates vs. Impis at Kings Park, Rams vs. Warriors at Legends, Kobs vs. Walukuba at Legends, and Eagles vs Rhinos at Kitante.

In the women’s fixtures, She-Wolves will take on Black Pearls in Mbale, Thunderbirds will face Panthers at Kyadondo, and Nile Rapids will play against Avengers at Dam Water. The competition is heating up as teams battle for crucial points and bragging rights in the Nile Special Rugby Championship.
