Former Leicester City defender Grant Brown, Australia-born Liam Merrick, and Ipswich Town’s Ashley Foulger are set to headline the upcoming FCV Gladiator Camp in Lagos. This one-week camp, taking place from April 1 to 5 at Grange School Lagos, will feature top coaches from the FCV International Academy, as well as former Super Eagles star Mutiu Adepoju.
Grant Brown brings a wealth of experience to the camp, with an impressive 18-year career as a defender that included almost 600 appearances. Starting his journey at Leicester City, Brown spent 13 years at Lincoln City, where he became the club’s highest appearance holder with 407 league outings. Holding a UEFA A License, Brown joined the FCV International Football Academy in 2016 and currently serves as the Head of Football.
Ashley Foulger, another notable coach at the camp, made the transition from a successful playing career to coaching, accumulating over a decade of experience. Representing clubs like Ipswich Town, Northampton Town, Peterborough United, and MK Dons as a player, Foulger is now working towards his UEFA B License. He has coached in various countries, including Finland, Hong Kong, and Albania, and serves as FCV’s goalkeeping coach.
Liam Merrick, who hails from Australia, joined FCV in 2018 to pursue his passion for football in England. In his debut season, Merrick played a key role in FCV’s success in the National Alliance League and was named Player of the Year for the 2019/20 season. Together with Brown and Foulger, Merrick will bring his expertise to the camp to help shape and develop young talents.
