Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo is making waves in the track world as Paris 2024 approaches, setting World Leading (WL) times in the 200m, 300m, and 400m events. His recent performances, including a world record-breaking run of 30.69 seconds in the 300m, have garnered global attention and sparked curiosity about the secrets behind his exceptional form this early in the season.

Interviewed by Gazette Sports at the Lefika Relays in Gaborone, Tebogo credited maturity as a key factor in his success. He noted the transformation from a young boy with little muscle to a mature athlete as a significant step in his journey to success. Tebogo also expressed confidence in his training approach alongside his coach, Kebonyemodisa Mosimanyane, to avoid peaking too early in the season.

Despite running fast times now, Tebogo revealed strategic adjustments in his training regimen, focusing on transitioning back to his 100m programme after completing the 400m race at the relay. He emphasized the importance of reaching the maximum limit of his body and avoiding burnout by taking a measured approach to his goals for the year.

As one of Botswana’s athletes who have already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Tebogo joins a talented group including Bayapo Ndori, Leungo Scotch, Kethobogile Haingura, Tshepiso Masalela, and Collen Kebinatshipi. The upcoming Games of the XXXIII Olympiad will take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in Paris, with the main host city and 16 other cities across metropolitan France, as well as a sub-site in Tahiti.

With Tebogo’s impressive performances and focused approach to training, he is poised to make a significant impact at the Paris 2024 Olympics. His dedication to continuous improvement and ability to handle pressure with maturity bode well for his future success in the track world. Fans and spectators alike eagerly await his performances on the world stage, where he aims to showcase his talents and represent Botswana with pride.
