The law amending the electoral code adopted by the deputies continues to provoke reactions. Through a message, the FCBE party denounces this law, which it considers to be exclusive and detrimental.

The Force Cauris for an Emerging Benin (FCBE) party held a press conference on Friday, March 8 to express its opinion on the law amending the constitution and the one amending the electoral code.

While the Cauris party was pleased with the withdrawal of the law amending the constitution, it did not have the same feeling about the adoption of the new electoral code.

In a statement read by former Minister Alain Adihou, the Force Cauris for an Emerging Benin denounces the new electoral code adopted by the deputies. According to the political party of Paul Hounkpè, this law represents a real democratic setback.

According to the FCBE, this law is exclusive and detrimental and does not provide any guarantee of credibility, transparency, or fairness for the general elections of 2026.

The party calls on President Patrice Talon to send back this law for a new review before any promulgation. To the Constitutional Court, the FCBE party calls on the judges to reject this law.

Paul Hounkpè’s party calls on the Beninese people to mobilize to reject this law as they did in the face of the law amending the constitution. The FCBE also invites all political forces supportive of democracy to mobilize and combine their efforts to block what is emerging.
