After calling for the suspension and postponement of the plenary session dedicated to the examination and voting of the proposal to amend the electoral code, civil society organizations, disappointed by its adoption, invite President Patrice Talon to refrain from promulgating it.

The Electoral Platform of civil society organizations is sending a message to take action following the vote on the Electoral Code. For the platform led by Fatoumatou Batoko Zossou, the law adopted on Tuesday, March 5th, is seen as exclusionary, contrary to the general interest, and highly detrimental to peace.

The platform urges the Head of State, President Patrice Talon, not to promulgate the law as it stands. Read below the full text of their statement.
