The Council of Ministers on Monday, March 18, 2024, has taken new measures in favor of Aspiring Teachers in Benin.

During the Council of Ministers on Monday, March 18, 2024, resolutions aimed at improving the professional circumstances of Aspiring Teachers (AME) were adopted. Although specific details are still pending publication, it should be noted that six major decisions favoring Aspiring Teachers affected in public high schools and elementary schools:

■ Suspended AMEs for inciting strikes are reinstated

■ AME salaries are increased from 11 to 12 months starting this school year

■ They are entitled to health insurance just like civil servants

■ Female AMEs are entitled to maternity leave

■ AMEs will now receive a commitment allowance for national service of 20,000 per month starting this March

■ Children of AMEs will have free tuition fees
