On Friday, March 22, an atmosphere of sadness descended on one of the colleges in the 12th arrondissement of Cotonou. Two students from this school tragically lost their lives after being swept away by the waters while they were on a swimming outing with some of their classmates.

According to information reported by the investigator, the tragedy occurred in the afternoon of this Friday at Fidjrossè Beach, not far from Route des Pêches.

Indeed, following the first semester exams, according to our information, eight (08) students from the second B class of CEG FIYEGNON decided to go to the beach for a swim. Arriving at the swimming spot, these 08 students in khaki uniforms undressed for dives into the sea.

The first two who jumped into the water were unfortunately swept away by the ocean waves in front of their stunned classmates. The six other survivors were taken to the Police Station of the 12th arrondissement of Cotonou.

This tragedy has plunged the parents of the victims and the school administration into profound shock.
