More is now known about the migration date of the numbering plan from eight to ten digits.

The migration of the numbering plan from eight to ten digits was officially announced during the council of ministers on March 6, 2024. This change will take place as of November 30th.

This date was communicated by Hervé Guèdègbé, the executive secretary of the Arcep, who was a guest on the Allo bip de bip radio show.

According to his explanations, subscribers of all three GSM networks will have the prefix 01 added to their current number. “Whether you are a subscriber of MTN, MOOV, or CELTIS, you will have the same prefix. Short numbers will not be affected by this new numbering plan,” he explains.

On the other hand, the numbers 118, 136, or other short numbers remain unchanged, as clarified by the Executive Secretary of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications (Arcep).
