An intelligence officer accused of abuse of office faces 02 years in prison.
Involved in a case of abuse of office and false denunciation with a village chief and a cattle breeder, an intelligence officer faces 02 years imprisonment. The incident took place in a village in the red zone in Malanville.
Indeed, the intelligence officer was accused by the cattle breeder to the village chief of taking money from him not to report him as a potential terrorist. After the situation escalated, the three were arrested. In court, they denied the allegations.
According to BIP Radio reports, the cattle breeder admitted that he did not pay the officer, but the village chief acknowledged that his half-brother was extorted 400,000 francs by the intelligence officer not to accuse him of being a terrorist.
The public prosecutor then requested acquittal for the village chief, 12 months in prison and 500,000 francs fine for the cattle breeder for false denunciation. And 2 years in prison and 1 million fine for the intelligence officer for abuse of office. The verdict is scheduled for April 18, 2024.
