The Secretary General of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Benin (COSI-Benin), Noël Chadaré, is soon putting an end to his syndical struggle. The trade unionist wants to give a new direction to his civic engagement.
Noël Chadaré wants to turn his back on the trade union struggle. The Secretary General of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Benin (COSI-Benin) made the announcement on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
“I have peacefully completed my mandate at the head of COSI-Benin. It’s not far. Isn’t it time for me to rest? The role of trade unionism is tiring. I was 46 years old when I became Secretary General, now I am 58 and it has already been 12 years of suffering,” Noël Chadaré confessed on Radio Sedohoun.
For the trade unionist, wisdom recommends leaving things before they leave you. But for Noël Chadaré, leaving the trade union struggle is not leaving the civic fight.
“I am still young and so I am in the fight every day. I cannot retire early,” he explains.
But before giving a new direction to his struggle, Noël Chadaré has a priority, which is to succeed in the succession at the head of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Benin (COSI-Benin).
As for the next destination after the trade union struggle, Noël Chadaré does not rule out the political field. For now, the decision has not yet been made.
