Benin: a young man detained in Dogbo after the mysterious death of his girlfriend

A young man is apprehended and held in custody after the death of his girlfriend. The incident occurred in Dogbo in the Couffo department.

The victim left home last Tuesday to go to the market in Sahouè. However, it was her lifeless body that was eventually found at the Saint Camille hospital in Dogbo.

After her disappearance, she was reportedly contacted by her aunt. And, on the phone, she allegedly said she had gone to the market. In reality, she was at her boyfriend’s place in Dogbo.

Three days after her disappearance, an individual called her parents, asking them to go to the Saint Camille hospital. Once at the hospital, the parents found their daughter dead.

According to reports, the victim did not receive any care at the Saint Camille hospital before her death. But oddly enough, right after her death, her body expanded.

According to medical personnel, she may have ingested something in an attempt to have a clandestine abortion.

The prosecutor, alerted by the police, ordered the authorities to transfer the body to the morgue for the opening of an investigation. During this investigative period, her partner was placed in detention. He is currently held at the Dogbo police station.

The victim was reportedly taken to the hospital with her boyfriend and a nurse. The nurse, who was at the hospital with the couple, allegedly fled after claiming to be the boyfriend’s friend of the deceased young girl.
