In the northern part of Benin, a man in his thirties tragically lost his life due to machete wounds to his neck.

The tragedy occurred during the night of Tuesday, March 5th to Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 in Gbabiré, a locality located in the Tasso district, commune of Nikki. According to a local radio station, the murderer is a cattle herder who was hired by the victim, a nomadic herder, to lead the animals.

But the relationship between the two men deteriorated. The cattle herder took advantage while his employer was asleep to violently attack him. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Alerted, the law enforcement officers accompanied by the district chief and the victim’s family members went to the scene for the usual investigation.

For now, the presumed perpetrator of the tragedy is still at large. It should be noted that the herder was buried on the instructions of the prosecutor. This victim leaves behind two widows and seven children, including 2 girls.
