Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has claimed that the practice of giving alms to street beggars is delaying the revolution that would bring about positive change in Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with ObjecTV, Kuti claimed that because Nigerians are constantly giving alms to beggars, they are not “hungry” enough to spark a revolution.
He argued that beggars are supposed to be angry enough to “cause” a revolution, but the alms they receive from Nigerians are pacifying them.
