In other sports news, the Super Eagles of Nigeria fell short in their bid to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), losing 2-1 to the host nation, Ivory Coast. Despite their defeat, the Super Eagles started the tournament on a positive note and made significant progress throughout the competition.
In response to the team’s performance, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has announced that the ministry, through the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has begun mobilizing Nigerians to galvanize support for the Super Eagles. This initiative aims to build public enthusiasm and support for the national football team.
Additionally, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has expressed his support for the Super Eagles ahead of the finals for the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), offering words of encouragement to the team.
The Super Eagles are set to face hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the finals, with the goal of becoming the third team to defeat an AFCON host in the final.
