Angola: “Tchiacu-Tchiacu Group Emerges Victorious at Cabinda Province Carnival”

The Tchiacu-Tchiacu group emerged victorious in the 2024 Cabinda Carnival in Cabinda province, claiming the top spot in the adult class with an impressive 1030 points. Their victory marks a successful defense of their title, earning them a prize of one million and 500 thousand kwanzas.

In second place in the adult class was the carnival group Kotukua Tu Mokna, scoring 1009 points and securing a prize of one million kwanzas. The IPAGEC group from the Cabassango neighborhood followed in third place with 980 points, earning them eight hundred thousand kwanzas. The Escola da Santa Catarina took the fourth spot with 960 points and a prize of five hundred thousand kwanzas.

The queen of the 2024 Carnival provincial parade was Isabel dos Santos from the Mamonso Ntango group in the 4 de Fevereiro neighborhood. Her impressive performance earned her a score of 390 points.

In the children’s class, the Teka Bi Nyoyo group from the Lombo-Lombo neighborhood emerged as the winner with 1045 points. They were followed by Bikudu Binkuenda Bikudu Bisiala, also from the Lombo-Lombo neighborhood, with 1010 points, and Bana Ndembama from the Zangoio neighborhood with 935 points.

The previous year, in 2023, the Tchiacu-Tchiacu group had also claimed victory in the adult class, while Bikudu Binkuenda Bikudu Bisiala had emerged triumphant in the children’s class.

The carnival is a highly anticipated and celebrated event in Cabinda province, drawing participants and spectators from all over the region.
