The much-anticipated encounter between Nigeria and Angola is scheduled to take place at the Houphoet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday, as both teams secured their places in the quarterfinal stage with impressive victories over Cameroon and Namibia, with scores of 2-0 and 3-0, respectively. Meanwhile, while the Super Eagles receive $5,000 for a win, the Angolan team has reportedly received significantly less for their performances in the championship thus far.
According to reports, Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI), a prominent investment banking group in the country, has chosen to acknowledge the achievements of the players and technical staff by rewarding them with the substantial sum of five million Kwanzas each. Additionally, the Angolan delegation has also been bestowed with generous gifts, as every member has received an iPhone 15 along with complimentary calls, SMS, and free internet for a year, courtesy of UNITEL, a leading telecommunications company headed by Aguinaldo Jaime. Furthermore, SODIAM EP has pledged to provide the team with a lucrative sum of $250,000, equivalent to about N225 million, should they progress to the final of the AFCON tournament.
