Angola: Freezing of assets threatens Álvaro Sobrinho’s economic livelihood

Álvaro Sobrinho claims that the new seizure of his assets puts his economic subsistence at risk.

The new seizure of assets of the former president of Banco Espírito Santo Angola (BESA) is revealed in the ruling of the Court of Appeal of Lisbon (TRL) of December 14, 2023, which rejected Sobrinho’s appeal against the seizure.

In the appeal, the Portuguese-Angolan banker stated, according to the ruling, that “the seizure prevents him from leading a normal life, including paying his bills.”
