The Metropolitan Archbishop of Malanje, Dom Luzizila Kiala, emphasized the importance of family participation in the education of citizens for the preservation of public goods. He delivered this message at a thanksgiving mass for the upcoming 92nd anniversary of the city of Malanje. The Archbishop stressed the need for the culture of caring for public goods to be instilled in families, as they are the fundamental nucleus of society.

In addition to this, Dom Luzizila Kiala urged families to take on the role of promoting tenderness, compassion, and being the guardians of reconciliation and mutual respect in order to build peace among Angolans. While recognizing the progress made by the city of Malanje, he also highlighted the numerous challenges that still exist in meeting the aspirations of its residents.

Following the mass, the municipal administrator of Malanje, Fernandes Cristóvão, reiterated the importance of residents taking care of public assets and avoiding vandalization in order to prevent the need for reinvestment in social projects. He also highlighted ongoing plans for the construction of new schools, hospitals, and other social projects as part of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) to improve the quality of life for citizens in the face of the city’s demographic growth.

Furthermore, deputies Mardanês Calunga and Ana da Purificação expressed their continued advocacy with central structures to support the development of the city of Malanje. They emphasized the need for the requalification of streets, improvement of green spaces, public lighting, and the construction of more schools and hospitals, as well as increasing job opportunities for young people as local priorities for the city.

It is important to note that Malanje was elevated to city status on February 13, 1932, by the first governor of the district, Veríssimo Sarmento, through Legislative Diploma number 313 under the Portuguese regime.

The message from Archbishop Dom Luzizila Kiala and the discussions and plans outlined at the thanksgiving mass highlight the collective effort and vision for the development and well-being of the city of Malanje. The focus on family participation in the preservation of public goods and the ongoing plans for social projects and infrastructure development demonstrate a commitment to promoting the dignity and quality of life for all residents. As the city prepares to celebrate its 92nd anniversary, there is a clear indication of the determination to address the challenges and work towards the fulfillment of the aspirations of its people.
