The second region of the General Tax Administration (AGT) held a lecture this Friday in the city of Uíge to inform about the main changes made in the new version of the Customs Tariff, as well as to clarify technical and methodological aspects about the legislation.

The clarification lecture on the changes in the new customs tariff, which will come into effect in April this year, aims to reinforce the availability of assistance to taxpayers, focusing on tax literacy to facilitate various economic operations.

In an interview with ANGOP, the customs services director technician Manuel Alfredo Cambundo explained that the changes in the customs tariff, containing over 37 percent of duty-free rates, aim to improve the national productive sector. “The new version of the customs tariff has more exemptions for the importation of goods and benefits for the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sector, an initiative aimed at creating more industries and protecting existing ones.

For example, the specialist pointed out the exemption of industrial machinery, raw materials, including insecticides, fertilizers, among other elements used in production. Manuel Alfredo Cambundo referred to the changes in products that were exempted, those that were increased, and those that saw reduced rates, in light of law 32/21 of December 30, which approves the General State Budget (OGE).

According to the technician, the exempted goods are those of wide consumption, such as basic basket products (vegetable oil, chicken, cornmeal, powdered milk, and other essential goods), to allow them to reach consumers at a lower price.
