The terrorist group Al-Shabaab continues to pose a significant threat, undermining stability in Somalia and the region.
President Mohamud’s unilateral attempts to change the constitution have raised concerns about democratic principles and executive branch power consolidation. The exclusion of key stakeholders, such as federal member states, from the constitutional review process has further divided the nation. While the Biden administration faces challenges in Gaza and Ukraine, the situation in Somalia also requires immediate action.
