The Minister of Commerce, Tayeb Zitouni, participated on Monday in the opening of the third regional Mitidja exhibition for production and export in Blida. He emphasized that the new economic policy, focused on the development and diversification of exports, is based on a participatory approach involving all economic actors.

Zitouni stressed the importance of translating this approach into concrete actions, by organizing meetings with economic operators and all actors engaged in the efforts to promote exports.

The minister also stated that Algeria’s economic sovereignty complements its political sovereignty, emphasizing the importance of both aspects for the country’s development.

Results of Economic Reforms

Zitouni highlighted the positive results of the economic reforms led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russo-Ukrainian war, Algeria has recorded surpluses in its balance of payments since 2020. In addition, non-hydrocarbon exports have increased significantly, from $1.8 billion to $7 billion in just a few years.

Thanks to these reforms, Algeria now has a positive economic growth, surpassing expectations and demonstrating impressive results.

In conclusion, the Minister of Commerce’s speech highlights the significant advances of Algeria in the economic field, thanks to a policy of development and diversification of exports, supported by a participative approach and courageous reforms. These efforts have allowed Algeria to consolidate its economic and political sovereignty, while achieving remarkable economic growth despite global challenges.
