Imsak, meaning “restraint” in Arabic, marks the beginning of Ramadan fasting. Muslims then refrain from eating, drinking, and any act that could invalidate the fast, engaging in a day of purification and devotion.

Iftar, meaning “break the fast”, symbolizes the end of this period of abstinence at sunset. It is a moment of joy and sharing, where families and friends gather around a hearty meal to celebrate the blessings of Allah.

It is important to note that the schedules of Iftar and Imsak for the different wilayas of Algeria are defined by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
