Imsak and iftar in Algiers, Tizi-Ouzou, Annaba, Oran, Constantine
Imsak, meaning “restraint” in Arabic, marks the beginning of Ramadan fasting. Muslims then refrain from eating, drinking, and any act that could invalidate the fast, engaging in a day of purification and devotion.
Iftar, meaning “break the fast”, symbolizes the end of this period of abstinence at sunset. It is a moment of joy and sharing, where families and friends gather around a hearty meal to celebrate the blessings of Allah.
