On this Tuesday, April 9th, which also marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan in 2024, our eyes turn towards the sky, eager to discover what the weather has in store for us in Algeria on the eve of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. After several days of intense heat enveloping various regions of the country, a change is on the horizon: the sky is adorned with clouds and the temperatures are starting to drop.
According to the latest weather forecasts from the National Office of Meteorology (ONM) for this Tuesday, April 9th, we expect a generally cloudy sky locally covered in the western and central regions of Algeria. Showers, sometimes stormy, are also expected, but should gradually diminish in the early afternoon.
For the eastern regions of the country, the sky will also be generally cloudy locally covered, with rain sometimes stormy in the late afternoon, and potentially more intense locally during the night. As for the Saharan regions, they should benefit from a clear to partially cloudy sky overall, as Météo Algérie has also specified.
As for temperatures, the mercury shows a slight decrease after the recent heatwave. Maximum temperatures will range from 18 to 26 °C along the coast, between 14 and 28 °C in the inland regions of the country, and between 24 to 42 °C in the Saharan regions.
In addition to this weather evolution, strong winds and episodes of sandstorms persist in some regions of our vast South. Indeed, the National Office of Meteorology (ONM) has issued a yellow alert for “strong winds” and “sandstorms” in the wilayas of Timimoun, Béni Abbes, El Meniaa, El Bayadh, Naama and Béchar. It is therefore crucial to remain vigilant, especially on the roads, due to possible sand whirlwinds that could reduce visibility.
