ALGIERS – The transport department of the province of Algiers has unveiled the special program it has put in place for the holy month of Ramadan. This program includes extended service hours for the metro, tramway, cable car, and ETUSA.
According to a statement by a transport department official to the Ennahar Online newspaper, here are the details of the program:
The Metro will operate every day from 7:00 am to 1:30 am. As for the Tramway, the schedule is as follows:
– Ruisseau – Dergana: From 6:30 am to 12:00 am (with a 30-minute break at iftar time).
– Dergana – Ruisseau: 6:30 am to 10:50 pm
Cable car in Bab El Oued:
– From 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am, from Saturday to Thursday.
– From 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm and from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am on Fridays.
Maqam Echahid cable car:
– From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am
Palais de la Culture cable car:
– From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, from Monday to Thursday.
It is worth noting that the cable car operates every day except on Fridays and public holidays.
The ETUSA (urban bus transport) program during Ramadan 2024 includes two services:
– Daytime: 124 lines served by 252 buses, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a frequency of 20 to 40 minutes from Monday to Thursday. 176 buses on Saturday and 123 buses on Fridays.
– Evening: 56 lines served by 72 buses, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am, every day during the month of Ramadan.
These lines cover the most frequented points and routes (Ben Aknoun, Place du 1er Mai, Place Maurice-Audin, les Sablettes, etc.) and provide connections to other modes of transport (metro, tramway, train).
The private sector of public passenger transport is committed to respecting the same program and schedule for all operated lines.
