The President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has decided to hold an early presidential election on September 7, 2024, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
Indeed, according to the same statement, it was decided to hold early presidential elections with the date set for Saturday, September 7, 2024, and the electoral body will be convened on June 8, 2024.
In addition, the meeting was attended by the President of the National Assembly, the President of the National People’s Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Court, the Prime Minister, the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, the Director of the Presidential Cabinet, the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Urbanism, the President of the Independent National Electoral Authority.
It should be noted that the Algerian presidential election was previously scheduled for December 2024. It will therefore take place a few months earlier than planned in Algeria. The election, which was supposed to be held in December 2024, has been moved up to September 7th, as announced by the presidency in a statement.
