Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday, dedicated to presentations on the status and compensation system of specific bodies in the national education sector, the progress report on the digitization strategy, the new mission of what was previously called pilot farms, the strategy for the water supply and wastewater sector, and an assessment in preparation for the 2024 Hajj.

The President has decided to transform the pilot farms into state-owned agricultural production units. These units will specialize in three types of crops: legumes, oilseeds, and oleaginous trees. He also commended the efforts of private actors in the agricultural sector, emphasizing their essential role in increasing and diversifying agricultural production. He also highlighted their sense of initiative, which is crucial for the sector’s development.

Furthermore, he believes it is crucial to define clear objectives while encouraging young graduates to enter the agricultural sector. The President wants to encourage the initiatives of young people, particularly in legume crops.

The President also ordered the support and promotion of agricultural production units that have succeeded in developing their activities and implementing effective models. It is important to generalize their good practices to improve the sector as a whole.

Finally, the President emphasized the need not to politicize the agricultural sector. He advocates for making it more technical and free from administrative and bureaucratic management. The focus should be on the efficiency and performance of the sector’s actors.

Regarding the progress report on the digitization strategy

Furthermore, following the presentation of the progress report on the state of progress of the digitization process, the President instructed the acceleration of work to achieve the total digitization of all sectors.

Additionally, the President urged the ministers to accelerate the digitization of data for each sector, in preparation for the technical platform and data domiciliation.

In conclusion, he instructed the High Commissioner for Digitization to prepare a presentation to be presented for approval at the Council of Ministers, regarding the conclusion of a contract with Huawei to create a data storage center.
