The last days of the holy month of Ramadan are marked by a heat wave spreading over the coastal and inland regions of the country. However, a change in weather conditions seems to be on the horizon, hinting at a drop in temperatures and perhaps even the return of rain starting on Tuesday. In this edition, let’s dive into the weather forecast for Monday, April 8, 2024!

According to the services of Météo Algérie, a relatively hot day is expected today in the coastal and inland regions of the East and Center-East of the country. In fact, the National Meteorological Office (ONM) has issued a yellow alert for “heatwave” for the wilayas of El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, Blida, Tipaza, Ain Defla, Chlef, Relizane, Mostaganem, Mascara, and Sidi Bel Abbes.

Furthermore, it is important to note that the maximum temperatures for Monday will range between 21 and 34°C along the coasts, between 5 and 34°C inland, and between 32 and 41°C in the Saharan regions.

In addition to the high temperatures, the weather forecast for Monday, April 8, also signals the persistence of strong winds in some regions of our vast South. Indeed, the National Meteorological Office (ONM) has issued a yellow alert for “strong wind” in the wilayas of Naama, El Bayadh, Saida, Tiaret, In Salah, and Tamanrasset. Special attention is needed, especially in the wilayas of In Salah and Tamanrasset, where a yellow alert for “sandstorm” is also in effect.

It is crucial to remain vigilant in the face of these potentially dangerous weather conditions, especially in areas prone to strong winds and sandstorms. Residents of these regions must take extra precautions and follow the advice of local authorities and meteorological services to ensure their safety.

According to the forecasts of Météo Algérie, a mostly cloudy sky will characterize the northern regions of the country on Monday. Gradually, in the evening, this cloud cover will thicken over the coastal and inland areas of the West and Center-West, accompanied by a few showers, sometimes thunderstorms, which will reach the coastal and inland regions of the Center and East during the night. Furthermore, the National Meteorological Office (ONM) has indicated that the Saharan regions will have a clear to partly cloudy sky.

Starting on Tuesday, a drop in temperatures and the return of rain are expected. This climate change coincides with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. The National Meteorological Office (ONM) anticipates a cloudy and rainy sky in the western and central regions, extending towards the east in the evening with maximum temperatures ranging between 16 and 24°C.
