ALGIERS, March 17, 2024 – The Minister of Commerce and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, has given instructions to better regulate import operations of goods intended for resale in their original state.
Mr. Zitouni chaired a meeting on Sunday at the ministry headquarters with the ministerial committee responsible for reviewing requests for the bank domiciliation document for the importation of finished products.
During the meeting, there was discussion about modernizing the digital platform dedicated to these operations in order to ensure speed and transparency in the processing of files.
The minister also emphasized the need to take into account national production in the examination of import requests in order to strengthen local industries and encourage investment.
Price controls applied by importers and monitoring of prices in global and national markets are also among the ministry’s priorities.
Finally, Mr. Zitouni instructed the relevant services to transmit all bank domiciliation documents to the tax services for better fiscal monitoring.
These new measures aim to clean up the national market and ensure better management of imports, while encouraging national production and protecting consumers.
