Algeria is a major attraction for international investors, due to its continuous commitment to the development of the energy and mining sectors. This dynamic opens up vast economic opportunities for actors from around the world.

Beyond the traditional exploitation of resources, Algeria is now focusing on exploring new ways to renew its energy potential. The French group CGG, specialized in seismic studies and underground exploration, shows a keen interest in consolidating its presence in the Algerian market.

Sophie Zurquiyah, CEO of CGG, recently met with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, to discuss collaboration opportunities. This meeting led to an agreement on a series of meetings aimed at deepening the exchanges between CGG, Sonatrach, and various national organizations.

With its decade-long experience in Algeria, especially with the Timimoun field development contract, CGG aims to strengthen its presence and capitalize on opportunities in both the mining and hydrocarbon sectors.

The necessity of modernization:

In addition to increasing national hydrocarbon production, Algeria aims to better exploit its mineral resources, especially rare earths and critical metals. The latter are becoming increasingly important in the country’s mining policy.

Cooperation in the mining sector, focused on research and the development of geological and geophysical maps, is a key lever to identify and valorize the country’s mining potential. This approach involves the use of cutting-edge technologies, including 3D seismic studies.

This new energy and mining policy marks a crucial step in Algeria’s quest for increased production to meet growing domestic demand and to assert itself on the international market.
