As the spring season paints its first colors, the weather forecast for this weekend is captivating minds. After several days of stability and a slight rise in temperatures, what surprises are in store for us? The National Meteorological Office (ONM) enlightens us on the conditions to come for this Thursday, March 21.

In the Northwest, expect a mostly cloudy sky, while the Center and East of the Northern regions will be under a partially cloudy sky, according to the latest data from the ONM. In the Saharan regions, the Southwest and North Sahara will experience frequent cloud cover, while the other regions of the far South will have a clear to partially cloudy sky.

In recent days, temperatures have increased significantly in various regions of the country, and this trend could continue until Saturday. According to the forecasts of Météo Algérie, a hot weather will mark this Thursday in the coastal and inland regions of the West, while relatively warm weather will also be present in the coastal and inland regions of the Center. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 20 °C and 31 °C along the coasts, between 23 °C and 34 °C in the inland regions, and between 28 °C and 37 °C in the Saharan regions.

It is worth noting that this year, the winter season lasted almost eighty-nine days, but yesterday, winter gave way to spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now official since Wednesday, March 20 at 4:06 (local time), marking the equinox, a key moment that signals the end of winter. The equinox occurs when the sun rises “full East” and sets “full West,” marking its passage over the Earth’s equator.

Moreover, it should be noted that the date of the spring equinox can vary between March 19 and March 21, and this variation is much more common than one might think. “During the 21st century, twenty springs will start on March 19, seventy-eight on March 20, and two on the 21st,” explained Florent Deleflie, an astronomer at the Paris Observatory-PSL, in a statement to the newspaper Le Monde.
