The National Office of Meteorology (ONM) issued an alert on Saturday regarding locally intense heavy rains expected to start at midnight. This alert specifically concerns the wilayas of Tipaza and Chlef. Residents are advised to exercise caution.

Furthermore, strong winds are expected from midday in a wide area including Tipaza, Chlef, Mostaganem, Oran, Aïn Témouchent, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbès, Naâma, El Bayadh, Saïda, Tiaret, M’Sila, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Batna, Khenchela, and Tébessa. These difficult weather conditions could cause disturbances, especially on roads and in the daily activities of citizens.

The Algerian meteorological services have issued an alert for the continuation of extreme weather conditions, with heavy thunderstorms and hailstorms expected in several regions of the country. These weather events could see precipitation levels exceeding 60 mm locally, until Thursday morning at 6 am.

The wilayas of Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf are specifically targeted by these forecasts, while a second alert concerns Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdès, Aïn Defla, Blida, Médéa, and Bouira with similar levels of precipitation. Furthermore, Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa, Jijel, Sétif, Mila, and Constantine are on alert for even more intense rain, exceeding 90 mm, accompanied by hail.

The situation is worsened by expected snowfall on heights above 1000 meters, with accumulations potentially exceeding 30 cm in the wilayas of Tissemsilt, Aïn Defla, Médéa, and others, until Thursday at 9 am.
