The national independent authority for the regulation of audiovisual media recently reminded all professionals in this sector of the need to respect the specificity of the sacred month of Ramadan and to comply with legal and ethical rules.
In this context, the Ministry of Communication summoned the director of Echorouk channel on Thursday due to certain scenes in the series “El Berrani” which was being broadcast during Ramadan.
After the success of “Eddama”, director Yahia Mouzahem is back with the new series “El Berrani”, whose first episodes were aired on Echorouk TV. However, in a statement released on Thursday, March 14, the Ministry of Communication announced that the channel’s director was summoned to provide explanations regarding certain scenes in the series.
Furthermore, this summons follows the reminder from the National Independent Authority for the Regulation of Audiovisual Media. The ministry’s statement also indicated that the committee in charge of monitoring Ramadan programs had noted some observations regarding certain scenes in the series “El Berrani” broadcast on Echorouk TV.
In the same day, the audiovisual regulatory authority warned television channels against excessive broadcasting of advertisements during the first three days of Ramadan.
Moreover, the national authority for the regulation of audiovisual media emphasizes the importance of respecting the laws governing advertising on television, while taking into account the cultural and religious specificities of Ramadan and Algerian society.
