The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Fayçal Bentaleb, announced during a forum on national radio that 320,000 unemployment benefit recipients have been directed towards the job market in Algeria. Out of the two million people receiving this benefit, 30,000 have secured permanent jobs.
Indeed, the unemployment benefit system in Algeria proves to be effective. The figures revealed by Fayçal Bentaleb demonstrate its positive impact. Registering for this benefit is linked to registration with the employment agency Anem, thereby reducing the number of “assisted beneficiaries.”
Job seekers receiving this benefit must respond to offers from Anem or justify any refusal of a job offer, under penalty of losing their financial assistance. This strategy encourages active job seeking, thus reducing the informal economy.
Fayçal Bentaleb also emphasized that 117,000 beneficiaries have been trained to meet the needs of the job market. This initiative promotes employability and contributes to reducing unemployment.
Furthermore, the minister noted a significant increase in the number of entrepreneurs registered with Cnas, with a 14.1% increase between 2021 and 2023. This growth reflects a transparent and equitable economic restructuring.
In parallel, Algeria is making progress in digitizing social services. Citizens have access to around a hundred online services, thereby facilitating administrative procedures. Additionally, 30 million people benefit from the new Chifa card, improving access to healthcare with a memory of 40 prescriptions and 400 medications.
In conclusion, the measures implemented by the Algerian government, particularly in the fields of employment and healthcare, are bearing fruit. The unemployment benefit, initially criticized, proves to be an effective tool in reducing unemployment and encouraging professional integration. In addition, advances in social coverage and service digitization contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens.
