The Minister of Health, Mr. Abdelhak Saihi, chaired a meeting on Monday (February 26, 2024), dedicated to the electronic medical record (EMR) of patients.
This meeting, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters, brought together the directors of hospital facilities as well as staff from the central administration, through video conference.
During this meeting, Mr. Saihi announced that each patient admitted to the hospital will now be assigned a unique “national identification number”. This will enable more effective medical follow-up by facilitating access to the patient’s information and coordination between the various stakeholders in the healthcare chain.
The minister also emphasized the importance of EMR for the patient, who will no longer have to carry their physical medical records during consultations and hospitalizations.
