The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa, announced the opening of new public marketing units at regulated prices.

During a meeting with the directors of the Cooperative of Cereals and Legumes (CCLS) and the executives of the Algerian Interprofessional Office of Cereals (OAIC), the minister also discussed the possibility of a decrease in prices for certain products, which will be announced later.


Regarding the storage capacities of cereals, the minister indicated that 350 proximity units will be received by the end of the current year and the beginning of 2025. These units will be closer to both public and private agricultural operations.

In 2025 and early 2026, 30 large capacity silos will be received and made available to the OAIC, the minister added.

The sector’s official also praised all the measures and decisions taken by the President of the Republic, which will contribute to the success of the plowing and sowing campaign. These measures include the free allocation of seeds and fertilizers to farmers, as well as the deferral of royalty payments.
