ALGIERS, Thursday, March 21, 2024 – During a visit he made yesterday to the new AADL city of Sidi Abdellah (southwest suburb of Algiers), the Minister of Housing, Tarek Belaribi, stated that he would not tolerate any delays in the completion of this “vital” project.

On this occasion, the Minister held a working meeting with the various stakeholders of the construction site, namely the General Director of AADL, representatives from the design offices, and construction companies.

After a detailed presentation on the progress of the project, T. Belaribi informed the stakeholders that he would not tolerate any delays or shortcomings in the completion of this “vital project”. The Minister emphasized that this is a “very important” neighborhood that must be delivered with all amenities: shopping centers, premises, schools, clinics, etc.

As a reminder, the new city of Sidi Abdellah is a huge AADL project consisting of three (3) cities which respectively include 13,300, 6,000, and 2,000 housing units.

Let’s now go back to the detailed presentation on the progress of the project. Firstly, the implementation team informed the Minister that the operation to connect to the drinking water network and the natural gas network is completely finished. For electricity, 99% of the 135 transformers are connected.

As for the internet network, the works to connect the neighborhood to fiber optics have reached an advancement rate of 75%. In addition, T. Belaribi ordered to accelerate the external development works, especially playgrounds, water fountains, and traffic routes.

Regarding public facilities – the new city contains 23 of them, including 13 primary schools, 6 middle schools, 2 high schools, an urban security center, and a polyclinic – the Minister demanded that the companies complete the foundation and column pouring by the end of Ramadan.

As for the commercial aspect, Belaribi emphasized the obligation to complete the construction works of 51 premises before the end of the holy month. Additionally, he launched the project for the construction of two (2) two-story shopping centers.

To ensure a sustained work pace, the Minister emphasized the need to adopt the 3 x 8 method (3 teams working 8 hours each). He also ordered the formation of a work team for each building to allow for constant monitoring of the works.
