The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, announced yesterday – Monday, April 8 – from Mostaganem, that the next school year in 2024 will see the implementation of several reforms, such as streamlining of the curriculum and a move towards digitalization.
Regarding the streamlining of curricula and school programs, the minister stated that the implementation of this project will start from the first stage of primary education, specifically the first and second year.
However, the minister emphasized that while some subjects will see their programs reduced and others postponed to other levels, there will be no changes to subjects related to national identity, such as Islamic education and the Arabic language. These subjects, he insisted, will remain in all levels.
This streamlining, the minister added, follows the demands of parents and adheres to an approach that several experts have studied and approved. Among these experts are the National Programs Council (CNP), the General Inspection, and central pedagogical inspectors.

Furthermore, the Minister of Education affirmed that the 2024 school year will witness an unprecedented digital shift, after the completion, in June of this year, of the digitalization of all pedagogical, administrative, and organizational processes in the sector.
“In line with the instructions of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune that the digitization processes should be completed by the end of the first semester of the current year, we are on the verge of achieving 100% digitalization in the national education sector,” the minister said.
Moreover, Belabed specified that the digitization process concerns online registration, especially for the first year of primary school – an operation that will begin on May 2 – student orientation, and other operations that will be announced soon.
Regarding the registration of students in the first year of primary school, the minister specified that the next school year will be paperless and online, so that parents no longer have to go to the educational institution. One less headache…
