Speaking at a press conference in Algiers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, reiterated Algeria’s commitment to the Palestinian issue. He emphasized the importance of this cause for the country and its diplomacy, stating that Palestine remains an absolute priority.
Indeed, the minister stressed that the Palestinian issue remains a top priority for Algeria. He stated, “We have advocated for the criminalization of the occupation and the end of impunity, reaffirming the importance of international legitimacy.”
Furthermore, Attaf recalled President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to revitalize the political process in a region that has experienced a prolonged freeze. “It is crucial to uphold international legitimacy to re-launch the peace process in the Middle East,” he emphasized. Algeria remains in favor of establishing an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
The minister also highlighted the need to combat attempts to forcibly displace the residents of the Gaza Strip. “We must support all initiatives aimed at holding the occupier accountable before international courts,” he added. He also emphasized the importance of denouncing plans to divide Gaza and ensuring respect for Palestinian sovereignty.

Attaf reiterated Algeria’s commitment to a sustainable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “We must work together to achieve a solution that is both permanent and definitive, based on the principles of international law,” he concluded.
