The Director of Algeria Post, Mr. Louai Zidi, announced the upcoming implementation of a coordination system between the postal operator, banks, and the National Agency for Housing Improvement and Development (AADL).
The institution’s role is to facilitate the payment of monthly installments for “AADL” housing. Transfers between the post office, the bank, and the agency will be automatic, without the citizen having to withdraw money from the post office and deposit it in the bank themselves.
Mr. Zidi also mentioned that consultations have been held with stakeholders, including banks that are partners of Algeria Post, which is also an observer member of the “ABEF” Association of Banks and Financial Institutions.
Mr. Zidi emphasized the importance of this partnership in the context of efforts to “make citizens’ lives easier” and “democratize public service.” He also reiterated Algeria Post’s commitment to providing quality services to its customers.
Regarding the project of the Postal Bank, the feasibility study is still ongoing. An in-depth study is being conducted to determine the best option: transforming post offices into bank branches or creating a banking subsidiary of Algeria Post.
A model and comprehensive study have been developed and submitted to the supervising ministry, which will then present them to the government for a final decision.
Algeria Post: Modernization, diversification, and social commitment
Mr. Zidi emphasized the need to take the necessary time to ensure the success of this ambitious project. “Given the sensitivity, complexity, and many important details surrounding this project, its implementation could take time,” he said.
The operator is also moving towards digitizing its services. The agreement with Alliance Assurances allows for the payment of insurance premiums in installments through post offices. Another partnership with the SAA insurance company allows clients to receive their benefits directly into their CCP account via electronic transfer.
Mr. Zidi stressed the importance of training the 28,000 employees of Algeria Post, calling them “ambassadors” of the company. He reaffirmed the management’s commitment to ensuring a healthy work environment and promoting social justice within the staff.
