The Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmehdi, accompanied by the Wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdennour Rabehi, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the “Palestine” Mosque in the Samrouni neighborhood of the 2100 housing units in Ouled Fayet, with a capacity of 2500 worshippers.
The visit took place in the presence of the President of the People’s Assembly of the Wilaya, members of the Security Committee, the delegated Wali of the administrative district of Cheraga, local elected officials, the Director of Religious Affairs and Wakfs of the Wilaya of Algiers, as well as ministerial and local officials.
The inauguration of this mosque holds strong symbolism, embodying the unwavering solidarity of the Algerian people towards the Palestinian cause. It is a concrete gesture of support and affirmation of the historical and spiritual ties between Algeria and Palestine.
Beyond national borders, this inauguration is a call for international solidarity towards Palestine. It reminds of the urgency to find a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in respect of international law and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
According to the World Health Organization, 10 children have died from malnutrition at a hospital in Gaza. The situation in these hospitals after a violent attack by the Israeli army has been described as “dismal” by the WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The hospital al-Awda is particularly concerning, with one of its buildings completely destroyed. The lack of food has led to the death of ten children at the Kamal Adwane hospital.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has announced that 16 children have died from malnutrition in the north of the Gaza Strip. This dramatic situation requires urgent intervention.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has called for help to assist the hospitals in Gaza. He emphasizes the urgency of the situation and the need for a rapid intervention to save lives.
