The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) has recently announced the start of the period for the payment of vehicle stickers for the year 2024. This announcement concerns all vehicle owners in Algeria, including tourist cars, utility vehicles, and passenger transport vehicles. According to the DGI’s statement, the legal period for fulfilling this tax obligation is set from March 1st to March 31st of each year, in accordance with Article 303 of the Stamp Code.
However, due to March 1st coinciding with a holiday in 2024, operations will exceptionally begin on March 2nd at Algeria Post offices, and from March 3rd in tax offices.
This period is crucial for vehicle owners wishing to comply with current tax legislation, thereby avoiding late penalties. The DGI emphasizes the importance of this step, reminding that the price of the sticker for the current year remains unchanged, encouraging users to refer only to the legal rates before making a purchase.
The General Directorate of Taxes, in collaboration with Algeria Post, ensures that all necessary measures have been taken to facilitate the purchase of stickers, promising a smooth process. Vehicle owners should not delay in completing this formality, to avoid the last-minute rush.
For utility vehicles, it should be noted that the price of the sticker varies according to the vehicle’s load, a specificity that requires special attention during the purchase. Additionally, the DGI provides an important clarification regarding new vehicles put into circulation. For these, the temporary registration card, commonly known as the “yellow card”, serves as a temporary registration card. Owners of these new vehicles have a 30-day period from the first date of circulation to obtain the sticker.
This period of payment for vehicle stickers is therefore a key moment for vehicle owners in Algeria, allowing them to comply with tax obligations and avoid the inconvenience of late payment. The DGI and Algeria Post strongly encourage users to take the lead, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.
