Minister of National Education Abdelhakim Belabed announced the upcoming introduction of a new English textbook for fifth-grade primary school students.

This book is intended for students who started learning English in the third grade. It is based on a communicative approach focused on dialogue, listening, and the development of oral and written comprehension and production skills.

It comes with a pedagogical guide to help teachers implement the program and simplify the methodology adopted.

Primary school principals can download the English programs and the pedagogical guide through their personal accounts on the Ministry of National Education’s digital platform.

Middle school English education inspectors continue to accompany and monitor teachers responsible for teaching this subject in primary schools.

It is worth noting that English education is divided into one and a half sessions per week, which means two 45-minute sessions each. These sessions are spaced out during the week to avoid scheduling them consecutively with French classes, which could create confusion among students.

The linguistic program and pedagogical approach adopted were developed by a group of English experts and approved by the National Curriculum Council.

They are mainly based on the communicative approach, which promotes dialogue, listening, and the development of oral and written skills.

The Minister of National Education announces the digitization of the enrollment of first-grade primary school students

The Minister of National Education recently announced the digitization of the enrollment of six-year-old students in the first grade of primary school. This process will now be done exclusively through the Ministry of National Education’s digital platform.

This platform will allow automatic monitoring of children’s schooling on a national scale, relying on the database of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Territorial Development. This initiative is part of strengthening the interconnection between different sectors.

During a working and inspection visit to the Medea province, the minister met with teachers in charge of support and revision classes scheduled during the spring break, and observed the working conditions in a secondary school.

He also highlighted the various measures taken by the state to ensure an adequate school environment for students and sector personnel.

Among these measures, we can mention the construction of school facilities and support infrastructure, as well as the digitization of several procedures, such as the digital notification system for the heating status in school facilities, which has allowed for quick intervention to correct certain malfunctions.
