Indeed, an employee uncovered a rather curious smuggling attempt: 15,000 euros ingeniously hidden inside a copy of the Quran.
The video published by the newspaper El Bilad shows the customs agent, surprised, extracting the carefully hidden bills between the pages of the sacred book.
This incident sparked outrage on social media, where users unanimously condemned the use of the Quran for illegal trafficking.
It should be noted that the year 2023 was marked by an intensification of thwarted smuggling operations in Algerian airports. Among the highlights, we can mention the seizure of more than 1.2 million euros in the span of three days in May.
