The 2024 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition is calling on agrifood entrepreneurs from all over Africa to showcase their startup business ventures. The competition is seeking innovative founders and co-founders between the ages of 18-35 who have a vision to establish sustainable scalable businesses that promote resilience, increase food security, and create jobs in the agrifood sector.

This year’s competition aims to recognize and celebrate African entrepreneurs whose business solutions address the critical need for efficient local production of nutritious food. The judges will be looking for business models that embrace scale and innovation while also tackling climate and broader environmental challenges. The top competitors selected will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize final competition during the Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, from 2 to 6 September.

Two grand prizes of $50,000 each will be awarded to the most promising female and male agripreneur-led businesses. The judges will also be focusing on ventures that make a significant impact in areas such as rural livelihoods, nutrition, climate, digital technology, gender, natural resources, and job creation.

Africa’s young agripreneurs are seen as catalysts for change in the face of extreme weather events affecting the continent’s agrifood sector. Through their innovative solutions and products, they are leading the way in addressing these pressing issues head-on.

The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition offers a platform for recognition, networking, and support to African agripreneurs. It fast-tracks the development and implementation of groundbreaking solutions needed for the sustainable transformation of Africa’s food systems.

The competition encourages youth to showcase their ingenuity and resilience in driving sustainable development through entrepreneurship. With Africa’s youthful population projected to grow significantly by 2050, there is great potential for entrepreneurship to drive economic growth and innovation.

Since its inception in 2019, the GoGettaz competition has highlighted the innovative agribusiness ventures being developed across Africa. The competition aims to recognize, support, and uplift young entrepreneurs who are revolutionizing the agrifood industry and contributing to food security on the continent.

The 2024 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition is expanding its support to include French-speaking entrepreneurs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility across linguistic boundaries. The competition serves as a beacon of hope, bringing together Africa’s brightest minds to pioneer transformative solutions and drive meaningful change to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
