Forced to win to revive their tournament, Benin and Congo settled for a goalless draw (0-0) on Tuesday evening, during the second day of group stage matches at the 2023 African Games football tournament.

The second day of group A at the football tournament, as part of the Accra 2023 African Games, saw Benin face Congo on Tuesday. A crucial match for both teams, forced to win to revive their tournament. However, in the end, both teams ended up with a goalless draw (0-0).

Both teams gave their all in the match. Several chances were created by both sides, but without success. This was mainly due to the attackers lacking accuracy in finishing. The Red Imps notably missed a big goal-scoring opportunity in the final minutes of the match. The opposing team also had no luck, missing a clear chance in stoppage time, much to the frustration of coach Mathias Déguénon, who was helpless on the sidelines.

With this result, Benin and Congo temporarily top group A with two points, pending the other match of the day between Ghana and Gambia. In the third and final day, the U20 Cheetahs will face the Black Satellites. This time, they will need to win in order to have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
