ADC rejects salary hike for politicians, demands pay rise for Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the proposed plan to increase the salaries of political office holders in Nigeria, insisting that ordinary citizens, not politicians, deserve a pay rise.

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) had reportedly suggested a review of salaries for the President, Vice President, governors, and other top officials.

But the ADC described the move as tone-deaf and an affront to struggling Nigerians.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said such a proposal shows how disconnected the government is from the realities citizens face daily.
