Burkina/PAMEF: 54 Microfinance Experts Graduate

Ouagadougou, April 12, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – 54 new microfinance experts trained by the Support Program for Savings Mobilization in the Francophonie (PAMEF) received their certificates on Friday, bearing the name “La Renaissance.”

According to the Technical Secretary for Financial Inclusion Promotion, Lin Hien, “financial inclusion promotion for our populations and small and medium enterprises cannot become a reality if the structures do not have highly qualified human resources who master the art of microfinance.”

He encouraged them to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge provided to them during the training.

Lin Hien spoke on Friday in Ouagadougou during the graduation ceremony of the 15th cohort of the Support Program for Savings Mobilization in the Francophonie (PAMEF), named “La Renaissance.”

He emphasized that financial inclusion promotion for our populations and small and medium enterprises cannot become a reality without highly qualified human resources who have mastered the art of microfinance.

“This is why I highly value the content of the training modules offered by PAMEF, which are of high quality,” Mr. Hien continued.

The Technical Secretary expressed his delight in being able to rely on PAMEF to perpetuate the ambition of providing a more professional framework for the world of inclusive finance in their country.

Lin Hien reiterated that microfinance continues to play a key role in endogenous development through its proximity to the vulnerable population, acting as a catalyst for financial inclusion, poverty reduction, job creation, and value addition.

In addition, the General Director of the Network of Popular Savings and Credit Funds of Burkina (RCPB), Azaratou Sondo/Nignan, who is also the sponsor of the cohort, noted that since 2000, their institution has focused on professionalizing the actors, including employees and administrators.

She explained that the RCPB is a cooperative savings and credit movement spread across the whole Burkinabe territory, with a mission to contribute to improving the living conditions of populations excluded from the traditional financial system.

Ms. Sondo also positioned her structure as one of the most significant entities in the decentralized financial systems of Burkina and within the UEMOA space.

“Today, we are gathered to celebrate your success in acquiring expertise in microfinance management,” the General Director of RCPB stated.

She urged her proteges to apply the acquired knowledge to better ensure the provision of products and services tailored to the clients’ needs.

Barthélémy Biao, the Rector of the African Cooperative Development University (UADC), commended the PAMEF management team for successfully mobilizing 54 learners in the inaugural cohort after 10 years of dormancy.

Expressing his hope for added value that will be useful in their various roles, he acknowledged the significance of the diplomas received.

Marcel Do, the cohort delegate, expressed gratitude for the quality training and diplomas received, viewing them as personal accomplishments.

On behalf of the graduates, he asked the General Director of RCPB to promote and entrust significant responsibilities to students from the cohort.
