Anticipation is building within the Howard University women’s volleyball team as they prepare for their upcoming visit to Botswana and Zimbabwe from May 16th to May 27th. The team from Washington, D.C. has officially announced their foreign tour, during which they will engage in a variety of enriching experiences both on and off the court.

The Howard University Volleyball Programme will be participating in the Universities International Invitational Tournament organized by the Botswana Volleyball Federation, where they will compete against teams from Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, and Zambia. However, the team is particularly excited about their off-field tasks, which include community initiatives such as visiting schools and running volleyball camps to share their knowledge and experience with students.

This transformative foreign tour is an opportunity for the American college team to make a positive difference in the lives of others. According to head coach Shaun Kupferberg, the trip goes beyond just playing volleyball and is about using the platform of sport to give back to the community and serve as leaders in other communities. College teams in the United States are allowed to go on a foreign tour once every four years, and this trip will be a chance for the Howard University athletes to broaden their horizons and develop into well-rounded individuals.

Director of Athletics at Howard University, Kery Davis, also highlighted the importance of the upcoming trip in shaping the students into community-oriented individuals who are prepared to become leaders in their respective fields after graduation. By experiencing new cultures and engaging with communities abroad, the student-athletes will gain valuable life experiences that will help them grow and contribute positively to society.

Overall, the Howard University women’s volleyball team is looking forward to their visit to Botswana and Zimbabwe, where they will not only compete in the Universities International Invitational Tournament but also engage in meaningful community initiatives. This trip represents an opportunity for the team to make a positive impact, learn from new experiences, and develop into empowered leaders who are committed to giving back to society.
