Morocco: More than 8 million dirhams granted to 21 festivals and events – Africa Links 24

The Commission for the Aid to the Organization of Film Festivals has unveiled its list of events benefiting from these subsidies. The total budget amounts to 8,220,000 dirhams in support of 21 festivals and events.

An amount of 8,220,000 dirhams will be granted to 21 film festivals and events in the first session of the year 2024. According to the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), “the Commission for the Aid to the Organization of Film Festivals, chaired by Khadija Alami Laâroussi, has examined 21 applications for support from festivals and events”. In this context, the Documentary Film Festival on Sahrawi Hassani Culture, History, and Space takes the lion’s share with an amount of 2,000,000 dirhams. It is followed by the International African Cinema Festival of Khouribga with an amount of 1,400,000 dirhams. According to the same source, the Mediterranean Film Festival of Tetouan will receive 1,300,000 dirhams, while the Dakhla Film Festival will receive a sum of 650,000 dirhams. The International Documentary Festival of Agadir will receive an amount of 600,000 dirhams. The same amount will be allocated to the International Animation Film Festival of Meknes. In addition, the Cinema and Common Memory Festival of Nador will receive an amount of 250,000 dirhams. The same amount will be granted to the International Independent Film Festival of Casablanca. As for the National Assa Sahara Film Festival, it has been awarded an amount of 160,000 dirhams, the Errachidia Film Festival will be allocated 150,000 dirhams, and the National Cinema Festival “Camera Kids, the International Environmental Films Festival, and the Souss Short Film Festival will each receive 120,000 dirhams. The Rabat International Comedy Festival has been granted 100,000 dirhams, the Nour Cinematic Festival of Casablanca and the Cap Spartel Film Festival of Tangier will each receive 70,000 dirhams. Furthermore, the Rif Amazigh Film Festival will receive 60,000 dirhams, while the Student Cinematic Creativity Festival, the Spring Agora Cinematic Festival, the International Reality Cinema Festival, and the International Dcheira Short Film Festival will each receive 50,000 dirhams. It is worth noting that Khadija Alami Laaroussi is accompanied by Fatima Zahra Mouhim, Touria Alaoui, and Shanaz El Akrichi, representatives from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Communication Department, Laïla Triki, Driss El Kri, Mohamed Fadel El Joumani, and Hicham Ibrahimi, representatives from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Culture Department, and Mourad Latifi, representative of the CCM.
