At least 407 people were killed in road crashes in Kampala in 2025, with motorcyclists accounting for half of the fatalities, according to a new report by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
The Kampala Road Safety Report 2025, released yesterday, shows deaths increased slightly from 404 in 2024. The research was led by Ms Stellah Namatovu with support from the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
However, when population growth is taken into account, the death rate declined from 9.9 deaths per 100,000 people in 2024 to 9.5 in 2025.
